Artist Statement; Urban Shoes

Urban decay and fashion have always been something that I enjoy photographing. In this piece I wanted to work with shoes, and a more comfortable style of fashion, for example Converse All Stars, and photograph them in a more urban area’s around Columbus, Ohio. This piece is made up of three different photographs that transition from color into black and white. Also the shoes transition from being the main focus in the first photograph, and slowly becoming less of a focal point.  I am going to frame them in a simple frame’s, so that the photographs can speak for themselves. While working on this project I did a photo-shoot of just the shoes, by placing them in different ways and taking different shots frame by frame. Then on a saturday afternoon I went around downtown, Columbus taking different shots of places around the Short North. I then placed the Urban photographs with the photographs of the shoes.
